OFS 2000 Air/Gas Flow Sensors Keep Improving

20 years ago, OSI developed an original approach to determining air/gas velocity by applying our patented scintillometry technology. The result: the OFS 2000 line of optical flow sensors; now employed world-wide wherever a tough, dependable, precision instrument is needed.

OFS 2000 systems have demonstrated excellence and cost-effectiveness in refineries, power plants, incinerators, chemical plants, paper mills, and mining operations - in every sort of industrial application where environmental compliance or superior efficiency is required.

OFS 2000 optical flow sensors transmit a light beam from one side of a flow area to another. The scintillation caused by the passage of air or gas through the entire light beam is detected, analyzed, and the velocity calculated

OFS 2000 For Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems

Our original optical flow sensor. Widely used wherever combustion emission compliance or process control are critical.

OFS 2000W AGC Equipped

For applications where light can be obscured by particulate. System automatically compensates for variations in opacity.

OFS 2000F High Velocity /Quick Response - Bidirectional

Designed specifically for applications where accurate tracking of dynamic change is critical. –F model measures velocity of 0.3 to 100 m/s – both directions.

OFS-2000E Volumetric/Mass Flow (option)*

Configured with the ability to accept smart temperature and pressure sensor current loop data to calculate and report volumetric flow or mass flow in addition to velocity.

OFS-2000R For Steam Lines

Extended range with AGC to optimize the amount of light based on the steam level. Measurement is not dependent on differential pressure, design DP, beta ratio, temperature, gas composition, humidity or the speed of sound.

Common Features

All OFS 2000 flow sensors require no calibration – ever. Observable drift is less than 1% per year. An automatic calibration check feature along with continuous self-test diagnostics are built-in for user security.

The sensor heads are isolated from the flow media. Measurement is immune to the effects of temperature, moisture content, particulate count, or pressure.

OFS can install in tight spaces with minimum space requirements of 2 upstream / 1 downstream diameters. Installation is to standard ANSI pattern 4” pipe flange.

All systems are equipped with 4-20 mA , RS-232 , and MODBUS RTU data outputs**.

All OFS 2000 sensors meet or exceed requirements set by the Environmental Protection Agency, and California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District:

●  EPA Method 14

●  EPA MACT RSR 40 CFR 63.670

●  EPA 40 CFR part 60 & 75

●  EPA 40 CFR part 60 sub part J & Ja

●  SCAQMD rule 1118

Optical Scientific, Inc. began in 1985 as a small tightly-knit company serving a predominantly U.S. customer base. Today it is still tightly knit - serving thousands of customers from mining to aerospace in every part of the globe. Our patented technology and constant attention to meeting customer needs (often in critical processes) makes us the best in the world at what we do. We can do it for you.

* OSI now offers the “E” option. Any OFS model can be optionally configured with the ability to accept smart temperature and pressure sensor current loop data to calculate and report volumetric flow or mass flow in addition to velocity. Model designations have an “E” added. Ex: OFS 2000E, 2000FE, 2000WE.

** In addition, all OFS 2000 models now have MODBUS RTU, enabling network communication. Adapters for RS-485 and Ethernet are also supplied at customer request.

These options can be retrofitted to existing sensors in the field, or at our facility.
